Welcome to Coach Wiki for the 2007 ASTD International Conference. We look forward to seeing you at our Learning Lab sessions in Atlanta in a few weeks.

Here are our Top 3 ideas on how we might want to use this wiki:
1. To keep abreast of learning
2. To Use it or Lose it - As Confucius said, "The palest ink is better than the sharpest memory". We invite you to use this space as a place to capture your learning and thoughts.
3. As a permanent record of who we are.
We will soon be setting up a page on which you can share who you are, with a link to your company's details.

Again, we look forward to seeing you in a few weeks time! Please feel free to add your "wiki worthy" ideas,
Jennifer and Deborah

vijay:Thank you Jeanette for your sharing. It is interesting to know that coaching taking place during a chat session w/o the coachee realizing that. I find that it is usually not easy to have employee on board to get coached during a discussion. It is because they might not have the trust or the need to share deeper of their knowledge, thoughts or beliefs with employer (as they might feel vulnerable). Another question: can we not coach ourself ? Why do we need a third party to coach us?? Hope for more comments !! =)) All the best to you too! Continue to create the difference !
Jeanette Allan:Hi Vijah, Coaching is my passion because it makes a difference! Today I returned to work and a manager said "oh I have upset one of your staff, I played the big bad wolf to make her review her group" As the conversation progressed I said, I'm really curious about your metaphor "big bad wolf" if it wasn't that, what could it be? We then had an interesting chat and she took it on board and did not even know she was coached! 2.Curiosity and following the gut energy 3. Not sure what you mean but I have grown recently in Self awareness and understanding what makes me tick and now focussing on how I can best work to my strengths. Will be interested to see others commments All the best Jeanette
vijay:Hi Everyone, Thank you Jennifer and Deborah for doing up the learning lab wiki. It is a great start. I have a few queries about coaching, can anyone help me on that ?? Will really appreciate your kind efforts. They are as follows: 1. Why is coaching your passion? 2. How do people build?/ find? the passion in what they are doing ? 3. How do we identify what each of us are encoded for to do in the society ? Thank you. Hope to hear from all of you soon. Vijay
